This program shows us the secrets in the making of the most precious of all natural fibers: silk. A leap across time takes us to the discovery of microfibers, derived from petroleum and plastic and used to create synthetic fabrics. Finally, we see one of the most recent techniques: the grafting of natural and synthetic fibers to create fabrics that are sterile, non-rotting, fireproof, and antifungal.
