Goebbels: Master of Propaganda

DVD
51 minutes
DD247 .G6 G63 2002 DVD

Many persuasive techniques used by today's media were pioneered by the Nazi Minister of Propaganda, Josef Goebbels. Roman emperors aside, Goebbels was one of the first public figures to recognize the value of mass entertainment to political propaganda. Enlivened by historical footage and interviews with eyewitnesses, this program traces the rise of Nazism, and the simultaneous unfolding of Goebbels' career. Learn how he created the Führer myth, organized mass spectacles, and established a film studio to produce entertainment that furthured the Nazi cause. This is a remarkable if frightening picture of a cynical, evil, but brilliant figure, and a chilling reminder of the dark potential of the mass media. A BBC Production.
