It is 1770 in an isolated Ojibwa village on the shores of a bay in the Northwest. Ikwe, a young Ojibwa girl on the threshold of womanhood, awakens from a terrifying dream. She envisions a strange man whose presence evokes haunting images of sadness and desolation. The arrival of a young Scottish trader transforms her dream into reality.
