During the years 1915-1916, Charlie Chaplin made and starred in 15 short films for Essanay Studios. In this second collection of his movies from that period, "Charlie Chaplin at Essanay II" delights with more prime Chaplin, following the ever-ripening genius of his already-distinctive comedic prowess.
While at Essany, Chaplin had begun gathering like-minded talents to shape a regular film troupe. Included in Chaplin's group were actress Edna Purviance and cameraman Rollie Totheroh - both of whom left an indelible print on Chaplain's work. Each figures prominently in these films as does the work of another future comedy star - Ben Turpin.
