The Times of Harvey Milk is the uplifting documentary about the first openly gay elected to political office in California. The film follows Milk from his days as a Castro Street businessman, to his triumphant election to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977. One year later, Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone were shot and killed by Dan White, a former fireman.
Onthespot news coverage and police reports capture the moments just after the assassination when the city came together in mourning. Interviews with Milk's supporters, friends and foes, and even Milk's taped will and White's taped confession, capture the spirit of the man and his times.
The Times of Harvey Milk, narrated by Harvey Fierstein, is an intimate, moving and ultimately life-affirming portrait of a brave and courageous man, whose assassination has become a symbol for the continuing struggle for gay rights across the country.
