This series visits projects in developing nations around the world which attempt to combat often overwhelming economic and social strife. One program takes students to Jamaica, where the disenfranchised poor have remained virtually unaffected by change and where desperate poverty provides particularly fertile ground for the mistreatment of children. Other programs discuss the links between population and the environment, a small nation's AIDS awareness program, the media's role in promoting social change, and a resort that is being developed without changing the local ecology.
