Justice on the Table

VHS
25 minutes
HD1527 .O7 J87 2003 + guide

Farmworkers are paying a price to put food on our tables. Excluded from labor laws, they face low wages, harsh working conditions, and a 48-year life expectancy. U.S. agriculture depends on the steady flow of "illegal" immigrants, but that status leads to added exploitation and abuse of the people who feed us.

Justice on the Table listens to farmworkers themselves tell of their treatment in Oregon's fields, and highlights their contributions to our regional and national economic prosperity.

Justice on the Table challenges each of us to consider the conditions under which our food is grown and ask, "Is this justice?"

This video includes a resource/discussion guide for schools and religious audiences. The project was initiated by the Farmworker Justice Coalition and was funded by the National Presbyterian Hunger Program.
