Taxol and Yew

VHS
57 minutes
QK494.5 .T25 T391 1991

The Pacific Yew provides a framework for an understanding of the complex and difficult choices that define our times. The discovery of Taxol in the bark of the Yew may well be the most important break-through in cancer treatment to date. On the other hand, in order to collect the large amount of bark necessary to commercially produce this miracle drug, a vast number of trees must be felled. The Pacific Northwest is the only place in the world where Taxus Brevifolia occurs and the number of trees is limited.
