Milton Resnick is one of the last survivors from the New York School of painters, also known as the Abstract Expressionists, whose members included Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. He has gained acclaim throughout his career as an artist who continuously explores the possibilities of "paint as paint." This program tracks the progress fo five large oil paintings over the course of eights months. All of the paintings share the theme of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and the title U + Me. Resnick uses the technique of scumbling, the working of one layer of oil paint over another of a different color without completely obiliterating the lower layer.
