Empty Oceans, Empty Nets, broadcast nationwide on PBS, explores the immense changes threatening marine fisheries worldwide. Entire populations of fish are becoming commercially extinct, yet consumer demand for fish is on the rise.

With rare and compelling images captured by Habitat Media and others from around the globe, this illuminating documentary, narrated by Peter Coyote, visits fisheries in various locations around the world and examines why some are ecological disasters, how others are changing for the better, and those that are powerful examples of what sustainable fishing practices can accomplish.

Along the way we meet a diverse and articulate corps of fishermen, scientists, merchants and citizens who share their perspective on the problems and their approach to solving them.

The show documents some of the most promising and innovative work being done to restore fisheries and to protect essential fish habitat, and informs viewers about the emerging market initiatives that give consumers a powerful vote in deciding how our oceans are fished.
