How do we balance our personal desires for romance with our societal need for stable marriages? In Nepal, a young Nyinba couple falls in love, a dangerous passion in a society based on polyandrous marriage: one wife, many husbands. The Wodaabe of Niger allow two types of marriage in the same household: one for love, the other arranged since birth. In Canada, a couple marries - his second, her first - after having two children together. In matters of the heart, do we have the strangest relations of all?
