An unprecedented and extraordinary visit into the world of the traditional African healer, the nganga, where people come for cures for diseases like TB and diabetes which modern medicine has not been able to cure. Beyond viruses and bacteria, we learn, there are evil spells, and the program shows the sacrifices and other rites with which ngangas fight the sorcery that has caused the illness. The filmmaker and narrator is a white Belgian priest, whose sincerity and goodwill have led the Ngangas to allow him to observe the rituals of traditional healing.
