Toxicology
(Pesticides in Forestry series)

SB951 .P4491 1991 v.3 + guide

Explains the basic principles that govern toxic responses to pesticides. It can stand alone for that purpose, but is best used in conjunction with the first tape in this series that describes the principles of environmental behavior of pesticides and the resulting exposure of humans and other species. The reason for this is that the toxicity of a pesticide is only part of the story. It has meaning only if the amount of pesticide that reaches the organism is known. Together, those two sets of information - exposure (or dose) and toxicity - provide the basis for estimating the probability of harm (risk) in a given circumstance. The third program of this series illustrates that process of risk assessment.
