Dear Pete:
We have been thinking about summer plans, and perhaps the time has come for further discussion. We are planning in arriving in Geneva on June 17th, via Los Angeles, New York, Boston, New York, and Paris. The house will be not quite finished when we arrive, so I daresay that the first few weeks will be spent in getting everything ship-shape. Besides the painting and furnishing of the house, I am bringing along two dynakit amplifiers and pre-amps with a stereo-converter, so I'll be pretty busy putting all those together. I am also carrying along my Tandberg Tape Recorder and some dozen or so tapes of my favorite records.
I understand that you will be through with your work towards the end of June. On or about the first of July, I am due to pick up a Porsche in Stuttgart, and I wonder if you and I could arrange to meet there to take delivery, then we could drive it back together. Or, you and Julia could meet me at Stuttgart and we could drive somewhat more leisurely and perhaps sightseeing a bit on the way back to Geneva.
I think it is fine if all three of you come to Geneva to stay with us, I have reservations about asking Joy to manage a household consisting of others than our children, however.
[Page 2]
To sum up, it looks like our away-from-Geneva time must be after June 20th. If you can manage to arrange things so that you can accompany us, fine. If you have to leave in the middle of the trip, that can be arranged.
In addition to the above thoughts, I also have a desire to get to Paris for a day or two, and to get to London for a week or so to examine automobiles. I want very much to examine the Jensen more closely and possibly pick up an old M. G., such as the K-3. I'm still looking for a six seater convertible, and perhaps the Alvis should be looked at.
I'm also extremely anxious, like you, to putter around, relaxing and enjoying the vacation. I think that photography is just the ticket. When you come, be sure to bring some of your favorite negatives.
I've been driving myself crazy the last couple of weeks making tape recordings. It's a much more laborious task than one would first imagine. However, we'll have some kind of music, I hope.
Our address is, Hermitage-Lac, La Belotte, Geneva, Switzerland. The telephone number is 82144. The number of the concierge, M. Dupraz, is 82417.
Much love,
Linus
[Handwritten note: Love to Julia and [indecipherable], for looking forward to seeing you!]
