24 November 1954
Dearest Mamma,
Thank you for all your letters. I am getting ready. How would you like to bring me some
little pearl studs and links? They would be very nice, but not necessary. Perhaps I shall take my
dinner jacket I can mail it back.
A wonderful big package came today, and Linda the little squirt had to open everything.
You are a wonderful mamma. It is just full of wonderful things. You must have worked terribly
hard for weeks on it and the other big package full of lovely cookies and honey that we got. We
don't deserve them.
You might bring me some ordinary cotton shirts. 16-33 or 15-33, possibly the larger.
Cotton is very expensive here, the cheapest shirt I have bought was $4:50 or so, and the nicest
shirt about $6.
Please ask Daddy to pay on charge the lab for some paper I asked Bea to send us. It's for
John Kendrew and me to do our work on. I hope Daddy does not mind.
I am glad you are having such a good time! Don't jazz around too much and get too
tired.
I am considering buying an overcoat. I suppose I really need one. We should see.
Much love,
XXXOOO Peter
[From Linda: Mama. Are you going to wear your crystal long earrings ? a bracelet. I don't
know what jewelry to wear- Bring a can of minced clams.]
