  • Letter from LP to President DuBridge, CIT RE: request for a two month leave of absence to travel to India. Highlights the fact that he planned to go the past two years, but health issues arose preventing his travel. Outlines the purpose of the trip.
  • Letter from LP to Dean Watson RE: enclosed is the application for a leave of absence for the upcoming trip to India in early 1954.
  • Letter from LP to Shanti Bhatnagar, India Ministry of Natural Resources and Scientific Research RE: LP outlines where he desires to travel within India, and asks Bhatnagar to schedule any other trips that might be of interest to LP and AHP.
  • Letter from LP to Dr. Brachfeld RE: Is glad to hear that Dr. Jonas Brachfeld is planning to carry on medical research at the National Cancer Institute. LP is glad to serve as a reference for Dr. Brachfeld. [note from Dr. Brachfeld to LP 9-24-53].
  • Letter from LP to Dr. Victor Guillemin, Jr. RE: writes in response to Dr. Guillemin's letter of inquiry. Was not aware that Dr. Guillemin was involved with Dr. Lendrum in his consideration of the experimental test of his ideas. LP doesn't think that he has much of an idea, though he goes on to answer some of Dr. Guillemin's questions about organic molecules and paramagnetism. [letter from Dr. Guillemin to LP 9-28-53].
  • Letter from Dr. Frederick C. Lendrum to LP RE: thanks LP for his note on his brief article dealing with the physics of molecular structure which appeared in Nature recently. He admits that he really has no business tinkering with the physics of the molecular structure, though he believes his article is justified simply because it may stimulate work in a field that he has no technical training to undertake himself. [letter from LP to Dr. Lendrum 9-14-53].
  • Letter from LP to Dr. R. J. Schnitzer of New York Academy of Sciences RE: thanks him for the invitation to participate in the conference honoring the 100th birthday of Paul Ehrlich. However, he is unable to accept it as he will be in India. [letter from Dr. Schnitzer to LP 9-28-53].
  • Letter from R.V. Bartz to LP RE: Outlines procedure for sending abstracts of articles submitted to professional journals to industrial associates. Gives standard procedure throughout the Institute.
  • AHP writes cheque to: Susie Perry [Boormans Market] : amount: $7.00
