Location: Buffalo, NY

  • Letter from D.P. Riley to LP RE: Writes to ask LP to send a letter recommending him to a research program in Ontario, Canada. He then discusses his protein work, which includes conclusions that myoglobin is a distinct molecule from hemoglobin. Also discusses his results regarding histone interactions with nucleic acids. Riley then states that he prefers the Watson-Crick model over LP's due to the increased flexibility offered, but concedes that it is quite possible both models are correct. [Filed under LP Science: 9.001].
  • Letter from Mrs. Susan T. Malarbey of the Parents' Committee for Reed College to LP RE: requests that LP serve on the Parents' Committee again.
  • Letter from Dr. Reuben Wood of George Washington University to LP RE: requests any suggestions from LP on who to hire for two openings in their department at George Washington U. Goes on to describe the positions. Thanks LP for sending the red-covered bulletin about his Cal Tech dept. [letter of response from LP to Dr. Wood 5-21-53].
