  • Postcard from LP to Ava Helen Pauling RE: Writes that his plane is approaching the English coast. He mentions that he spent the previous evening with "Stan" and another man going over the printer's marks for the new edition of General Chemistry.
  • Letter from LP to Mr. T. Imanishi RE: writes that he was interested to read Mr. Imanishi's last note, however, he is soon leaving on a trip to Europe, and therefore will not be able to think about Mr. Imanishi's questions at this time. It seems that the questions are too complicated for LP anyway, and so LP suggests that he will not be of much help to Mr. Imanishi. [note from T. Imanishi to LP 3-24-53, note from Mr. Imanishi to LP 5-17-53].
  • Letter from W. M. Stanley to LP RE: writes that without proof he does not believe that Dr. O'Gorman's contract was not renewed due to any bias involving the "oath controversy." Feels that it was just the natural result of his Department's realization that no argument could be made for his retention. [letter from LP to Prof. Stanley 3-30-53, related note from Dr. John Michael O'Gorman to LP 2-8-53].
  • Letter from BW to Mr. Arthur Rosenstock RE: encloses a photo. Says that LP and AHP are planning to attend the "Page One Ball" and suggests she forward them any letters Mr. Rosenstock wishes to send, as LP is currently on travels. [letter from Mr. Arthur Rosenstock to LP 4-1-53, related letter from Jacob L. Holtzmann 4-9-53].
  • Letter from LP to Mr. Neilly of John Wiley Sons, Inc., RE: thanks him for the copy of the book Non-Aqueous Solvents by Audrieth and Kleinberg. Comments on the book. [filed under W: Correspondence 1953] [letter from Mr. Neilly to LP 1-27-53].
  • Letter from Henry Wise of the Jet Propulsion Lab of Cal Tech to LP RE: writes with the interest of obtaining a teaching appointment with the Dept. of Chem. Engineering. [letter of response from LP to Dr. Wise 5-25-53].
  • Letter from L.A. DuBridge to Dr. Otto Haas, Rohm and Haas Company bcc:LP RE: Explains the nature of the Industrial Associates program and would like to arrange a meeting with Haas and perhaps Dr. Connor to discuss Rohm and Haas Company participation in the program.
