  • Letter from Henry C. Thomas, Yale University, to LP RE: asks for LP to notify them as soon as his plans firm up and he can commit to a lecturing visit. 4-6-53 is set as the deadline.   • Letter from LP to Dr. G. E. Burch RE: says that he shall try to arrange for Dr. Itano to go see him and has just submitted a letter to the Commanding General of the Fourth Army regarding Dr. Coppedge's deferment. Says that he is currently working on the preparation of a second edition of the textbook "General Chemistry."   • Letter from Dorothy Higinbotham, Secretary of the Federation of American Scientists to LP RE: writes in response to LP's letter that she has called to inquire whether the hearings of the Cox Committee's investigation are available yet. Will send LP a copy of the transcript when it is available. The Committee is mailing their report to LP today. [letter from LP to Dr. William A.   • Letter from LP to Dr. Walter Loewenstein RE: writes in response to Dr. Loewenstein's note in which he included an explanation for his newly developed system on quantum mechanical descriptions of molecules. Says that he is skeptical about the value of the system and that it would be valuable to put his system on a quantitative basis. Returns his photographs for future use as well.   • Letter from Charles W. Tucker, Jr. to LP RE: sends LP a copy of a manuscript he is submitting for publication on the crystal structure of beta-uranium. Asks LP to pass it on to Dr. Bergman as well. [letter of response from LP to Dr. Tucker, Jr. 1-22-53].
