  • Letter from LP to Mrs. Rowland Edwards RE: writes that he is sorry to say that he and his colleagues do not have the kind of information that she is looking for. [Note from Mrs. Edwards to Cal Tech 1-29-52].
  • Letter from Horst Hoyer to LP RE: Asks LP if he could suggest any research fellowships available from Cal Tech. He is interested because he has recently been fired from his work with Armor and Company for reasons unrelated to his research abilities, and so wanted to continue his research in the properties of collagen in some other way. Gunther, Editor of the Interne RE: writes that he is glad that their magazine is resuming publication and has requested that he write an article for them, however, he is over-committed at present and so will have to put off writing for them until next year perhaps.   • Letter from LP to Dr. Richard N. Lewis RE: writes to say that he has recommended him to a Dr. Bell who taught chemistry at Cal Tech and who now is at Rollins college in Florida.   • Letter from LP to Dr. J. E. Bell of Rollins College RE: thanks Dr. Bell for the letter of 1-28-52. Has written to Mr. Casamajor asking him to have Mrs. Hodges send him copies of items in the minutes of the company relating to their property. Suggests Dr. Richard Lewis as a man to teach chemistry at Rollins College. Goes on to discuss Dr. Lewis' background, who seems to have had a connection to the Communist party at one point which got him into trouble.
