Finding Books
OSU
Libraries Online Catalog: OSU Libraries Online Catalog
is the primary finding tool for locating books, journals, conference
proceedings, government documents and reports in the library. You can
search by author, title, and subject. Keyword searching is also available,
as are other searches, such as call number, government document number
(SuDoc and OrDoc), and ISSN/ISBN.
Summit
(Orbis):
OSU is part of Summit, a combined online catalog for many academic
libraries in Washington and Oregon. Links from the OSU Libraries Online
Catalog allow you to duplicate a search in Summit, and if the item is
available at another library, you can request it and it will be
delivered within three days to The Valley Library Circulation desk.
WorldCat: Index
to over 30 million records cataloged by most North American and European
libraries. Materials indexed include books, journals, conferences, films,
videos, recordings, musical scores, computer software, maps and manuscripts.
Materials date back to the 11th century.

Finding Journal Articles
Journal indexes: To find individual articles in journals, you will typically use periodical indexes/databases which can either be in printed form or online. Most indexes allow you to search by author or title of the article, as well as subject or topic. Many online indexes also allow you to search the article citation and abstract with a keyword or free text search.
Locating journals: With the exception of journals that are full-text online, you will need to locate the actual journal to read the article. You can search the OSU Libraries Catalog for the Journal Title (name of the journal) to determine if we own the journal. If not, you can get copies of journal articles through our Interlibrary Loan service at: http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/ill/.
Electronic Journals: Search or browse the E-Journal list to see if a journal is available online.
