The OSU Libraries' Oregon Multicultural Archives (OMA) mission is to acquire, preserve and make available collections that document the lives of African American, Asian American, Latino, and Native American communities of Oregon.

Faye Chadwell, who has led the Oregon State University Libraries on an interim basis since last fall, has been named the Donald and Delpha Campbell University Librarian at OSU. She succeeds Karyle Butcher, who retired last year.

Chadwell brings to the position more than 20 years of experience in higher education librarianship. As part of her duties, she also will direct the OSU Press. Since coming to OSU in 2007, Chadwell has been an innovative leader for OSU Libraries.

Chadwell was OSU's associate university librarian for collections and content management for three years, then assumed interim directorship last October upon Butcher's retirement. In her position as associate director, she provided leadership to the University Archives, OSU's special collections, technical services, and the library at OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center.

Prior to joining the OSU faculty, Chadwell worked at the University of Oregon Libraries for 12 years, and at the University of South Carolina for six years. She has played a leadership role on numerous national library association committees and task forces, as well as at Oregon State.

She has a master's degree in library science from the University of Illinois, and a bachelor's and master's degree in English from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

Guides for the following 7 collections in the OSU Archives were completed in February and March 2011.

Armstrong, Mary Louise, Collection, 1936-1946

The Armstrong Collection consists of photographs and newspaper clippings documenting Armstrong's student years at Oregon State College and her work as a Regional Home Economist for the Live Stock and Meat Board in the 1940s. The collection includes 11 photographs.

Brown, F. Ross, Papers, 1890-1963

This collections consists of materials generated and assembled by Brown documenting his student years at Oregon Agricultural College, agricultural work in the 1910s, and participation in the Oregon Wildlife Federation and the National Wildlife Federation. F. Ross Brown graduated from OAC in 1910. Dankleff, Richard, Sound Recording, 2010

This recording of Dankleff reading poetry, primarily written by him, was originally made in the late 1970s. Richard Dankleff was a faculty member in the Oregon State University English Department from 1963 until his retirement in 1987.

Edwards, Floyd and Lilly Nordgren, Collection, 1923-1932

This small collection consists of materials created and assembled by Floyd Edwards and Lilly Nordgren, primarily during the early 1930s, when Edwards was a graduate student at Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) and Nordgren was an instructor in office training and secretarial. Both earned degrees from OAC -- Floyd in 1923 (BS and 1931 (MS) and Lilly in 1924 (BS).

Hansen, N. John, Scrapbook, 1937-2007

This scrapbook documents Hansen's participation in the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. He graduated from Oregon State College in 1941 and served as an Extension Service County Agent in Linn and Polk Counties from 1943 until 1972. The scrapbook includes 89 photographs.

These moving images were recorded and assembled by the College primarily for instructional use. The collection includes films pertaining to oceanographic research, deep water drilling, and offshore oil and gas operations; videotapes of meteorology lectures; and videotapes of marine resource management seminars on the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill (1989) and Pacific Northwest fisheries (1998).
