OSU Libraries and Press celebrated outstanding work during the last year in an award ceremony attended by enthusiastic staff and proud family members on May 14. The Totten Scholarship recognizes students who have been employed at OSU Libraries for at least three consecutive terms and who exhibit excellent qualities at work such as leadership, initiative, ambition, strong customer service ethic, and reliability.  Congratulations to Gjeryl Fajardo, Nicole Gregoire, and Kristin Bates, our Totten scholarship winners for this year, who each received a certificate recognizing their outstanding service to the library and a scholarship of $250.

The Graduating Student $750 Totten scholarship goes to a deserving, graduating student who has been employed at OSU Libraries for at least two academic years, has demonstrated outstanding work performance, and has exhibited excellent qualities at work such as leadership, initiative, ambition, strong customer service ethic, and reliability.  This year, the committee awarded Totten scholarships to two graduating seniors:  Thanh X. Nguyen who works in Circulation and to Matthew Schuck who works in Instruction and User Services.

The award ceremony also paid tribute to employees for their years of service.  Anne-Marie Deitering, Jessicca Layton, Jane Nichols, and Ryan Wick each received a certificate and an OSU bookstore gift certificate in recognition of 10 years of service.  JoLynn O’Hearn received a certificate and an OSU bookstore gift certificate for 15 years of service.   Deanne Bruner received a certificate and an OSU bookstore gift certificate for 20 years of service.  Janet Webster received a certificate and an OSU bookstore gift certificate for 25 years of service.  Susan Gilmont received a certificate and an OSU bookstore gift certificate, as well as a big round of applause, for her 35 years of service.

The Excellence Awards recognize contributions to advancing the four goals of the library; developing a project or program, or simplifying a process; or fostering and promoting a collaborative work environment.  The Outstanding Classified Employee Award went to Ian Scofield.   Steven Sowell received the Outstanding Faculty Award, and the Hydra project team received the Group Project Award recognizing the work of Tom Johnson, Trey Terrell, Ryan Wick, and Evviva Weinraub.  Finally, the Committee Choice Award was given to Gregorio Luis Ramirez.

Please offer your congratulations to these deserving individuals.
