Multimedia Listing (VHS, DVDs, and Audiotapes)
Some library books have computer disks (3.5 floppy) or compact discs which accompany them. Some discs are located inside our library books and some are located at the Circulation desk and can be checked out for the same period as the library book. There is a stamp in the back inside cover noting that a computer disk is stored at the Circulation desk. Reference designated discs need to have "special permission" from a Reference Librarian in order to be checked out. PC floppy disks are recopied upon return.
Circulation houses most of the library's multimedia collection. The titles may be checked out at the Circulation desk on the second floor. You may search for titles in the library catalog or the multimedia listing.
Other multimedia collections exist in Government Documents, Special Collections, and Guin Library and may also be searched using the library catalog. Multimedia from these departments are not included in the multimedia listing.
Checkout periods are 3 days. Faculty may place videos on course reserves through the course reserves form. Videos may be reserved for classroom use through the video reserve form.
VCR/DVD players and monitors are available for use on the 2nd floor (map). There is also a DVD player that only plays region 2 (European) DVDs. Headphones are attached to all players. Most PCs in the Information Commons have DVD players. A multi-format VCR (NTSC, PAL, SECAM), group video viewing, slide projector and 16mm film projector are available in the preview room on the second floor. The preview room may be checked out for 3 hour periods at the Circulation desk. Remote controls are also available for checkout.
The multimedia listing descriptions are taken typically from video/DVD jackets. The Library's use of these descriptions, etc. doesn't imply endorsement or agreement. We have opted to use these descriptions to enrich the discovery and identification of useful resources.
